The Burlington Choral Society

Burlington Choral Society Spring 2010

The Burlington Choral Society began in 1976 as a small group of singers from Chittenden County in Vermont who were devoted to performing the great choral masterpieces. Today, our membership has grown to over 100 singers, but our mission remains the same, to offer amateur and professional singers a venue for their talents, and to provide inspirational performances to our audiences.

The BCS receives consistently warm praise from audiences and critics alike.
We hope you have the opportunity to hear us in the near future, or better yet, come sing with us!

Grande Messe des Morts

Francois-Joseph Gossec's 1760 masterpiece Grande Messe des Morts or Requiem is a truly revolutionary piece of music - full of great ideas that influenced the Requiems of Mozart and Berlioz. It was the piece that was performed to honor the dead following the storming of the Bastille in 1789. Gossec was by then, the composer whose music was most closely associated with the French Revolution. Although Gossec's Requiem is well-known to the French, especially, it has not been performed outside Europe since 1977. We invite you to come and hear this rarely-performed, historically significant musical masterpiece! With featured soloists Mary Bonhag, soprano; Melissa Dickerson, soprano; Matthew Anderson, tenor; and Benjamin Dickerson, baritone.

$25 General Seating, $20 for Students and Seniors.
